Convert Kilograms and Pounds

Kilograms to pounds - # kilograms x 2.2046
Pounds to kilograms - # pounds x 0.453

Determine Cubic Feet

Length x width x height divided by 1728 = cubic feet
(eg: 96” x 36” x 48” = 165,888 divided by 1728 = 96 cu ft)

Convert cubic feet into lineal feet

Cubic feet divided by 58 = lineal feet
(eg: 388 cu ft divided by 58 = 6.69) (rounded to 7’ of truck)
Note: freight does not always cube equally so the industry standard is 58, although the actual division number is 62..

Determine Density for NMFC Density items

Determine cubic feet of item (either box or shrink wrapped pallet)
Weight of item divided by cubic feet = density in lbs per cu ft.
(eg: 500 lbs divided by 96 cu ft = 5.21 density in lbs per cu ft.)

Determine DIM weight for air freight

DOMESTIC = length x width x height divided by 194 = DIM weight domestic
(eg: 96” x 36” x 48” divided by 194 = 855 lbs DIM weight

INTERNATIONAL = Length x width x height divided by 166 = DIM weight international
(eg: 96” x 36” x 48” divided by 166 = 999 lbs DIM weight
